Yesterday afternoon and evening the winds were over 60 km per hour and gusting, accompanied by rain, then 2 or 3 cm of snow causing highways to close and slippery city roads.
The ride to the airport was uneventful. We arrived before 5 a.m. to take the plane to Montréal.  When we checked in at the kiosk as usual but one of the questions was the name of the hotel where we will be staying in Fort Lauderdale or the name of a cruise ship or US other address.  We do not remember that being a question at check-in on the kiosk. That is a question that we thought we would have at Montréal US Customs preclearance.
We walked around the departure floor while we waited for boarding, taking a break for a small breakfast of a boiled egg and banana each, the last of the perishables from home, except the cream, which we hope Sandra can use. The plane was a few minutes late taking off because it had to be deiced. There was a five-hour layover in Montréal which was plenty of time to walk our daily steps and to clear US Customs, which took less than ten minutes, quicker than the security line that preceded it. We did not even need to complete a declaration card during the pre-flight clearance. We had time for a pizza lunch and later a Tim Hortons coffee, when we played three games of cribbage. We walked a bit more, bought sandwiches for dinner on the plane and read until the boarding was announced. Steps walked 13,357.
The high temperature predicted for today in Montréal was 9 C.
The flight to Fort Lauderdale took under 3.5 hours. It was about 30 minutes late taking off, even though the plane had been sitting at the gate for more than 90 minutes. The plane was a Boeing 767 and did not have any TV screens, people were encouraged to download the Air Canada app before taking off.  The temperature when we landed in Fort Lauderdale was 74 F (or 24 C).
We had collected our baggage at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood airport and took a shuttle to our hotel within an hour of getting off the plane.  Our room as a mini kitchen with a full size fridge, a two burner stove and coffee maker.  It is a short ride to the cruise terminal.
